Sound video feedback and learner response
1) Type up your feedback from your teacher.
WWW:
- Very good parallel section
- Good choice of images
- Use of dissolves
- Good pace of editing
- Videos and still images
- Own images and footage
EBI:
- Contrapuntal section not clear
2) Type up your feedback from fellow students - you can summarise key points if several students give you similar feedback.
WWW:
- Good variety of images and videos
- Use of music/editing
- Exactly one minute long
- Good use of parallel sound
- Own images
EBI:
- Contrapuntal could be more clear
- Make the images on beat to the song
3) Now reflect on your work and write your own evaluation of your video. Write a 'What went well' (WWW) paragraph and a paragraph for 'Even Better If' (EBI) underneath the rest of your feedback.
What went well on my video was that I was able to make a one minute video where I used a variety of my own image and footage. I was also able to manage to use the parallel sound clearly and the editing where I used transitions for the video. It's even better if I was able to deliver the contrapuntal sound part more clearly and if I was able to play around with the editing where I could have made the images on beat with the song. Also, if I was able to use more video clips on the video so that it's not just images.
4) Learner response: compare your own video against your evaluation of the top three videos in the class. Whose did you think was best and why? How could you have improved your own video?
For me, I think the best top threes were Tara's, Maya's and Frankie's, because for Frankie he was able to use the parallel and contrapuntal sound clearly where the message was clear. And for Tara and Maya's one they're use of footage with their own was really good as well as the editing, and was able to play with the editing and the ending bit of Tara's was smooth. I could improve my own video if the contrapuntal sound was clear and if I had a smooth ending.
5) Finally, what have you learned about the importance of sound to film and TV through this week's work?
I have learned that the sound to a film and TV is important because it adds to emphasise the meaning of what the media product is trying to connote. Diegetic, non-diegetic, sound bridges, parallel and contrapuntal sound are important because it helps to ensure authenticity, where audiences may feel as if a story is building to a real life world, such as, the click of keyboards and the sound of the footsteps, and to evoke emotions from them. I also learned how sound can help connote what the characters are feeling, create intensity, and tell the audience what the plot of the story is.
