Cinematography blog tasks

Image
Find the opening sequence to a film or TV drama of your choice on YouTube and e mbed the video in a blogpost called 'Cinematography blog tasks'.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHEzkbnmKRs&list=RDHHEzkbnmKRs&start_radio=1 1) Write an analysis of the cinematography in the opening sequence.  Highlight  your use of media language and try to cover camera shots, angles and movement using the terminology we have learned in lessons.  There is an establishing shot at the beginning of the opening, showing the setting (buildings). This clip was sped up to show that time is passing. After this there's a low angle shot , focusing on the buidings to connote that the buildings seems intimidating and that the people there may have a high status. Also, there's a close-up shot and a tilt of a male character fixing his tie, connoting the idea that he's professional. Furthermore, there's a medium shot of another male character in what seems like a conferen...

Cinematography practical task

Plan: •Long shot (whole body of character with some bits of setting) •Medium shot (waist up) •Medium close up (shoulder up) •Close up shot (slightly zoomed in than MCU) •Extreme close up (more detailed) •High Angle shot (make someone vulnerable) •Low Angle shot (make someone more powerful) •Over the shoulder shot (from the shoulder of character) •Zoom •Pan (move from side to side)  Cinematography video The video that I did doesn't really have much narrative but it shows a shopping kind of vlog. I tried to edit and pace the clips on the beat of the sound to try and be creative while adding transitions in between. Me and Sanjivani tried to capture a range of shots that we have learnt and joined the clips together to show a small narrative.

'Conclave' film review

The film was interesting as there's a range of enigmatic codes, especially when the pope died and they had to figure out someone to replace his position. Also, when Lawrence was trying to get clues about the background of the other popes just to make Aldo the pope. In addition, the character of the additional pope kind of gives a protagonist vibe from the very start when he was introduced. This gives the audience an idea that he might be the next pope as the preferred reading was clear. The camera shots and angles was also used thoroughly, which reinforces the idea of enigmatic codes such as the use of diegetic sound when there was a loud bomb.

Clueless Review

The movie 'Clueless' was a good movie for teenagers as it's a coming of age genre. It shows how teenagers' transition to a teen adult is normal and that they still have a lot more to learn. Also, the plot was very interesting and unique as being step siblings with someone then having a relationship with them is a bit intriguing for some people but also weird but it is overall amusing. Furthermore, the movie was fun to watch due to it's comedy vibe and how most teenagers would personally relate to it. In addition, the camera angles and the use of non-diegetic sound was very useful when creating a comfortable vibe as well as when communicating the meanings that the producer wants to communicate. Also, the costumes of the characters were linking to their personality which reinforces the idea of the producer's communicating their preferred meaning to the audiences really well.

Sound video feedback and learner response

  1) Type up your feedback from your teacher. WWW: Very good parallel section Good choice of images Use of dissolves Good pace of editing Videos and still images Own images and footage EBI: Contrapuntal section not clear 2) Type up your feedback from fellow students - you can summarise key points if several students give you similar feedback. WWW: Good variety of images and videos Use of music/editing Exactly one minute long Good use of parallel sound Own images EBI: Contrapuntal could be more clear Make the images on beat to the song 3) Now reflect on your work and write your own evaluation of your video. Write a 'What went well' (WWW) paragraph and a paragraph for 'Even Better If' (EBI) underneath the rest of your feedback. What went well on my video was that I was able to make a one minute video where I used a variety of my own image and footage. I was also able to manage to use the parallel sound clearly and the editing where I used transitions for the video. It...
